Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras is basically just a huge party. It is maily celebrated in the south but some other states do participate by offering their own variation of mardi gras. Parade, beads, obscene sites, and more can all be witnessed within just a few hours of the "party." In New Orleans, the party is absolutely wild! I haven't been to many parades in the crescent city, but the few that I have been to, consisted of some shocking events. Although mardi gras can be a large amount of fun, it can also be rather dangerous. Crimes often happen as people become intoxicated and bumped in large crowds. Yes, mardi gras is fun, but one must take caution.

Skiing
Skiing is a very intense sport. People who do it often make it look so easy. However, one is easily deceived by looks. It is actually a tough sport to master and takes some time. When you do get the hang of it, it proves to be quite enjoyable. I love to ski but the weather is much different from the warm humid weather in Louisiana that I am used to. With temperatures as low as eight degrees, skiing downhill at a fast pace may not seem like fun, but as long as you do not crash it is. Skiing is definitely a favorite thing of mine to do. I strongly suggest that one should do it at least once in their lifetimes. The scenery is also a plus to this sport. Some of the most beautiful scenery is seen here. I love how the sun beams on the mountain tops. Skiing is a great way to vacation and is very enjoyable.

Best Friends
Best friends are hard to find. Growing up, you meet new people all the time. However, trying to find people who you can trust and who will stand by you is extremely difficult and often rare. I have some close friends but only a few who I can be totally honest with. They are my best friends and we probably couln't make it through some things if it wasn't for each of us. We are so tight knit, that we could be sisters. At college, friends usually go to the same schools as one another. I, on the otherhand, went the complete opposite way from all of mine. It's hard at times but luckily I have met some really nice people and they help to make the transition alot better. Friends come and go but true friends will stick by your side no matter what!

Inauguragtion of Barack Obama
01/22/09
Obama took an oath of office and became the 44th President of the United States of America. The Inauguration had the largest turnout of spectators since Reagan was sworn in. I was amazed at the number of people that faired the chilly weather to watch history being made. Obama spoke eloquently and encouraged us to take action to turn our economy around. Even though he messed up a little on the oath, Obama delivered a strong speech. Hopefully, he will accomplish his goals prove to America that they made the right choice.

My Future
01/14/09
My future is unknown. I had dreams of becoming a nurse and starting a family. Yet, now I have no idea what I would really like to do. Deciding a profession is a huge step and I would like to make the right one. However, I am scared that I will not make the choice that is correct for me. What if I decide to do something and then find out later it's not what I really wanted or saw for my future? Can I switch? Am I capable of even making that big of a life altering decision? So many questions, but all of them are unanswered. I agree, life is about taking chances, but it is also about having enough courage to take that first step towards that chance. Maybe I will find that courage and will-power to fullfil my goals towards my future. Unfortunately, life is a mystery and only time will tell.
